Federal Aviation Administration Proposes Rules for Space Flight
Due to the success of Space Ship One, the World Famous Space Craft and the fact that already 38,000 people have put down deposits and gotten themselves onto a waiting list for a $200,000.00 plus ride into space. Very excellent news for the commercial space flight industry, unfortunately the FAA is now moving to make regulations.
So far the regulations proposed are simple enough; Space Crews must have medical certificate and pilot’s licenses. Companies must have liability insurance too, which is actually available thru Lloyds of London. The real problem is not necessarily these first set of proposed rules, the real problem is that once you start making rules and regulations, these agencies “ALWAYS” make more rules and it is never ending. It is as if it is job security. We should be hesitant to making rules this early in the game and if we do, we must add one rule to these proposed rules;
“If any more rules or regulations are made then one rule or regulation must be taken away and if any further definitions are added to any rules, then the rules must make an additional exemption for the rules which currently exist”
Down size government, down size regulatory bodies and stop over regulation the innovation and industry. Think on this in 2006
