Subscriber Base Grows for TalkTalk

The broadband company, TalkTalk, a part of Carphone Warehouse, has reported great results for the last quarter. However, these reports leave out data relating to Carphone’s acquisition of Tiscali, which happened to be out of the period for which the reports were prepared.

The financial reports, released recently, disclosed that there was an increase in the number of customers by 47,000 in the last quarter. In the quarter before the last one, TalkTalk had added about 74,000 new customers, while in the quarter before that, the company had seen about 36,000 new subscriptions.

Further, as a result of the TalkTalk’s add on packages like call packages, better security features and higher download speeds, the average customer expenditure was reported to have risen by 5%.

According to Charles Dunstone, Chief Executive of Carphone, the business of TalkTalk has been faring as per the anticipation of the company. He also pointed out that the unstable market conditions have somewhat benefited the company as they are placed at the affordable end of the broadband market - click for a broadband comparison of TalkTalk’s services with the other broadband providers.

He also disclosed that approximately 59,000 customers were moved by TalkTalk to its own unbundled network, which means that about 75% of its customer base was now on its own network. This is great news for the company as it would now be able to control its costs in a much better way.
