Avoiding a Suck out
When you are playing Texas Hold’em online poker, there is always a chance that the player will get an amazing hand out of pure luck. It can be very discouraging when the player next to you pulls for an improbable inside straight, only to get the card that they need on the river. If this happens to you, you have experienced a suck out. Suck outs take place when a player gets the last card that they need just in time. The problem with suck outs is that they can make you feel that all the poker strategy that you are playing with isn’t showing dividends. If the player next to you can just hope for the best and end up with an amazing hand, why should you spend hours practicing and reading up on the latest techniques? The answer is actually rather simple, suck outs are not always the result of pure chance. In many cases, extremely advanced players will appear to be making the novice mistakes that characterize a suck out. In actuality, however, that player has calculated the pot odds in their head and knows that they have a good chance of getting the card they need. Instead of getting frustrated next time you get sucked out, remember that the poker online player who caused you to lose can be a force to be reckoned with. Use your suck out as a learning experience. Watch the other players’ techniques after, you may be able to use that information in the future.
