The mainstream artworld has had a love/hate relationship with graffiti. On the “good press” side, talented creatives such as Banksy have made graffiti an aesthetic pleasure, utilising stencils to create technically tricky graphics with political points attached. This sort of graffiti was certain to get popular with the public and the artworld : attractive to both eye and intellect. This type of graffiti is now even purchased as prints on canvas, and placed in middle class households and office reception areas.
However, what of the usual sort - the gangbanger, the tagger, the street urchin - this sort of graffiti is oftentimes seen as antisocial, an offence committed by the untalented. However this is to misinterpret graffiti as strictly an art form. To many people, it’s not only art, but a way to mark territory, or even a two finger salute : anti-art, anti-social, anti-establishment.
Graffiti has invariably been a clandestine pursuit, even though the effects are very much public. The targeted audience is often unknown. Is it for a rival gang? A message to a single person? To the public? Or….perhaps it’s merely gratuitous and out of boredom.
Whatever the causes may be, there appears to be a sustained need to spray on walls. Some cities have admitted that graffiti isn’t a short-term craze, so they’ve marked off areas where graffiti is allowed - usually uninhabited areas, but now and then busier areas like temporary boarding surrounding urban construction sites.

Stencilling has actually been around for 25 years, even though many people think Banksy invented it. You can use cardboard, paper or other types of media (such as plastics) to produced templated graphics and text. You merely cut around the shapes from your cardboard/paper/other surface, put then place this surface against a wall (for example), and roll-on paint or spray into the cut-out shapes.
In effect, the art of stencilling involves applying paint across a stencil to form an image on a surface underneath. Sometimes multiple layers of stencils are applied on the same image to add colours or give the image some depth.
So why do some individuals prefer to be a stencil artist? For a few, it is a great platform to communicate a political message. Many stencil artists appreciate the publicity that their art can obtain. Some simply want their art to be seen. Since the stencil remains unchanged throughout its use, it is easier for an artist to speedily duplicate what could be a complicated artwork at a very speedy rate, when equated to other traditional tagging methods, so without question, there is also a powerful self-promoting reason to prefer stencilling.
Banksy has applied stencilling as a means to put a point across, often rather succinctly, leaving the spectator to get the message themselves. This is often why people enjoy his artworks so much, as they make the viewer think. Banksy artwork is being reproduced on posters, t-shirts and canvas, such is the popularity of the street artist.

The sewing machine is a part of a lot of people’s life any more. Yet some of us do not think that it is a good investment. But once you sit down and think about just what you could do with on of the sewing machines now days you would realize that there is a large variety of things that can be done with it.
The new machines are compact and have a large variety of features with it. The features could include the different types of stitches and even the feature that would allow you to have some kind of writing placed on a garment.
Did you ever think that you could sit down and make a blanket, cloths, or curtains? Well it is possible with a sewing machine, plus it is not that hard. You could even get the kids involved with some of the projects that you would like to do. You never know the kids might even come up with a few projects that they may want to do on the sewing machine themselves.
You never know, but you may end up buying a sewing machine that you are able to do embroidery on it. Then you could even take on the tasks of doing projects for company’s, such as jackets, shirts, or even hats. That is one little way to make a littlie money instead of giving it all to the large companies that are out there charging to do the work.
The sewing machine makes life easier and does save some money for many people. How, you may as. Its simple instead of throwing cloths away they may take the piece of cloth and be able to replace the seam that may have ripped out or if that is not possible then you could always make something completely new out of the material.
Some people have made carpets or even quilts with one sewing machine instead of throwing out the material. That is how some of the families are able to save some money by not throwing out what can be reused one way or another with just the use of a sewing machine.

LIFE IS A FANTASY!
A pink-eyed rabbit, fuzzy white
Hops in bedrooms filled with fright
A child of six with much to know
Her father’s basest feelings show
She knows of LOVE, only through him
He satisfies his every whim
He leaves, she wipes him
from her chin!
Her mother NEEDS to see the best
He answered her God request
To have a roof to comfort bring
A yard where all the birdies sing
Tell me how she could really know
What source for learning could she go?
Her mother regularly beaten if not worse
The cycle of violence - a woman’s curse
Conflicting visions, dependencies
One can endure many idiosyncrasies
She could not make him defendant be
Denial, avoidance… she disbelieves
The rabbit hides beneath tall trees.
At thirteen a step-grandfatha’
Finds a well-trained girl that oughta’
Do what powerful men request
Never knowing what is best
And run away she does at last
Freedom can be such a ‘blast’
A rabbit’s foot upon a chain
The FANTASY her ’safe’ domain
How long in life must it remain?
To protect her from these men
Who always for her lips, do ‘yen’
A state trooper in Tennessee
Like every other man does see
Her lips so full and luscious red
Through the bars, not in a bed.
This life men bring to little girls
Even when their hair yet curls
The visions in her soul I saw
Ripped my soul - made it raw
I can understand the rage and WILL
To take a life and even KILL
Just forgive and let it go
The therapists say, what do THEY Know?
Einstein says “Where the world ceases to be the scene of our personal hopes and wishes, where we face it as free beings admiring, asking, and observing, there we enter the realm of Art and Science.”
