Choosing Ladies Mountain Bikes Made Easy

Mountain biking is a popular sport for men, women and children. It is especially popular in the US, UK and Australia. Most popular retailers such as GT and Kona have a ladies mountain bikes range which is specifically built for women. These models have smaller and lighter frames to improve handling and performance for ladies. Enhanced ergonomics means these types of bikes are also more suited to the female posture to avoid injuries and enhance comfort. When choosing a bicycle the most important thing to consider is the terrain that it was built for. Most bicycles are more suited to certain surfaces and this could make a big difference to your ride so when selecting a mountain bike please keep this in mind. It is also important to choose well known brands as their frames are more likely to be higher quality than the rest due to years of manufacturing experience. With more women taking part in this sport nowadays, more mountain bike manufacturers are adding a ladies range so this should not be a problem. If you are looking to buy ladies mountain bikes at the lowest prices, we recommend checking out BuyMountainBikes.net to compare the latest ranges on the market today.

Climber from Nepal, 75, oldest man to climb the Mount Everest

He was reported in good health as he began making his descent. Bahadur Sherchan last attempt resulted in the rescue of Lincoln Hall, an Australian climber who was left by his team in the “death zone.”

The 75-year-old man from Nepal is now the oldest person to have reached the top of Chomolungma. More than 2950 people have climbed to the summit since it was first conquered in 1953 by New Zealander Edmund Hillary, who died in January, and Nepal’s Tenzing Norgay.

“The Chinese weren’t allowing anybody on the mountain. They ended up commandeering it for themselves, even though the mountain is shared by two countries. Indeed, he was all too aware of the potential dangers the mountain could bring. Certain parts of the climb are more dangerous than others and it is important for climbers to remain focused Sherchan just 21 days away from his 77th birthday beat the age record set last year by 71-year-old Japanese teacher Katsusuke Yanagisawa.

They flexed their muscles this year all the in name of the Olympic spirit, but it was hardly spirited at all.”

With the Chinese preparing for the impending summer Olympic Games, Min Bahadur Sherchan noted that the government’s actions hardly reflected the Olympic spirit. Min Bahadur Sherchan and four climbing guides reached the 29,035-foot (8,850-meters) summit of the world’s highest mountain early Sunday, said Ramesh Chretri, an official with Nepal’s ministry of tourism. The Chinese were flying their airplanes over the mountain and had Chinese officials in Kathmandu. They basically coerced the Nepali government to not allow any climbers past camp two on the Nepali side. His first found him within 234 metres of the peak when his team stopped to help a fellow mountaineer who was left for dead. Two years later, Andrew Brash, a University of Calgary alumni, returned to Chomolungma or Mount Everest to finish what he had started.

Now that Andrew Brash has successfully scaled the tallest mountain in the world, he is once again ready to focus on his family. This season climber Anthony Loeff is reporting the scales for the Mount Everest after he reached the peak of Mont Blanc in France earlier this year.

As he planned for the climb, Sherchan told reporters he wanted to inspire fellow senior citizens. He also said many Nepalese have established records on Mt Everest, so it was only fitting that the record for the oldest climber to reach the summit should also belong to a Nepali. Nevertheless, the decision to actualize a long-time personal goal left Min Bahadur Sherchan with some internal uncertainties, he cited the political actions of China and Nepal as providing the greatest adversity he faced on his journey. “Everest this year became a political pawn,” he said with some frustration.

Hall was frostbitten and severely disoriented due to altitude sickness. Bahadur Sherchan returned a hero to Calgarians. Andrew Brash returned this week from Nepal after successfully climbing to the summit of Mount Everest.

Wayne Rooney The Superstar

Are you a football supporter? Do you support England? Are you looking forward to the football World Cup? These are three questions which I would have answered a big yes to and I am very happy to learn that Wayne Rooney looks likely to be fit to play some part in the Fifa World Cup tournament. He could prove to be the man that helps bring glory to our proud footballing nation.

The hype around the foot injury of Wayne Rooney has been absolutely massive and has been possibly way over the top. I would have much preferred more focus to have been placed on some of our other better players such as David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Joe Cole and Michael Owen. In saying that, in a way it could have been a blessing in disguise as the players mentioned and the other members of the squad, have had quite a lot of the attention taken away from them.

I remember first watching Wayne Rooney play live, when I went to support my favourite team Birmingham City play at St Andrews. Wayne at that point was probably only seventeen and was playing for Everton. I had heard that he was supposed to be a great talent and had watched him play on the television on a number of occasions.

Throughout the match he looked very lively and dangerous but ended up getting himself sent off, after an over the top challenge on the Birmingham goalkeeper. I will never forget the Birmingham City fans singing to torment the Everton supporters with, where’s your Wayne gone, where’s your Wayne gone? Imagine it being sang etc.

Over the next few months Rooney became better and better and eventually was sold in a dream move for him, to Manchester United. He has continued his form and improvement and has since been a major part of the England football team. In my opinion, he is one of, if not the best, footballers in the world.

Chelsea, who of course seem to have a never ending supply of money, would no doubt love to sign Rooney. I wonder how much it would cost them to persuade Alex Ferguson and Manchester United to part with their prize asset. They say every man has a price, I would think that they would need around the one hundred million pounds mark, quite a scary thought.

Wayne is still so young and I hope he can remain injury free as it is going to be very exciting to see how good he can become. He is already a superstar but I believe he could be one of the best players who has ever played the game.

Mike Holmgren owes Bill Cowher and NFL Fans an Apology

Since when is it OK to totally snub the winner of an NFL game, let alone the biggest game of the year, the Super Bowl? Well that’s exactly what Mike Holmgren, the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, did on Super Bowl Sunday after his team lost the game. Not only did he not meet Coach Cowher, the longest tenured coach in the NFL, on the 25 yard line for a congratulatory handshake as scheduled, it was actually Cowher who had to go out of his way to find Holmgren. The moment finally took place in the Seahawks locker room, so I can speculate on who pursued who. At a time when he should be enjoying his much deserved win, Coach Cowher was chasing down a sore loser, because Cowher knows how it works. The deal isn’t done until the handshake. It’s tradition, a tradition rooted in good sportsman ship. A tradition that Holmgren dismissed because he was angry. What a great example, what a wonderful role model he was to all of the kids watching.

In 1995, Cowher and the Steelers lost the Super Bowl to the Dallas Cowboy’s under similar circumstances. Bad officiating, lot’s of “if’y” calls, touch downs that really weren’t. But when the clock expired and the game was over, Bill Cowher marched right into the center of the field and shook the victor’s hand and offered a few kind words. He didn’t slither out of the back door, he also didn’t return to his teams host city and bad mouth the officiating. He did give a losing coaches interview in the locker room and was seen embracing his tear-soaked family, obviously broken hearted by the loss. Coach Cowher has given his respect, he has given his props, he has played by the rules, and yet, even though he is the longest tenured coach in the NFL, everyone in the media, on sportscenter, even the NFL itself refuses to admit that Holmgren snubbed Cowher because he was angry. I wonder if this story would have been bigger had it been Bill Belichick that got shafted?

Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t have any axe to grind with Mike Holmgren, not until he pulled this nonsense. I’ve always thought he was a stand up guy, I even pulled for him and his Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers in 97′. You see Mike has been around the block a few times. He’s not some 35 year old hot-head who’s never seen the inside of the Super Bowl. The man has been there twice not including this last appearance, walking away with one trophy and one heartache. For him to be such a veteran coach with so much big game experience makes this insult and lack of respect from him even harder to swallow.

The NFL is talking about fining him for the remarks he made to the home town crowd in Seattle, in which he insinuated that the referee’s were responsible for their loss to the World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers. I sincerely hope they levy the largest fine possible on his plump “wallet”. Because the statement is not true. The Seattle Seahawks had just as much chance to win that game as did the Pittsburgh Steelers, but it was a battle of coaching and Holmgren was definitely out coached by Cowher. In the waning minutes of both halves of the game, Holmgren was managing the clock like it was a pre-season contest, not the Super Bowl. Constant mistakes which ground away the clock and his teams chance to win. His kicker missed field goals, field goals that super bowl champ’s MUST make, just ask the New England Patriots. His best receiver dropped nearly every pass thrown his way. His MVP of the league running back never saw the inside of the end zone. Holmgren started the game passing, yet when crunch time rolled around and the clock was going away, he thought it was a good time to start running the ball for 3 and 4 yard gains. Yet Holmgren takes the low road and calls the ref’s out and points his finger of blame in their faces.

On the other side of the field Coach Cowher was planning his work and working his plan, devising plays that totally caught the Seahawks off guard, including the Rothlisberger TD that was subjected to review, even though the ball obviously grazed the goal line, the Willie Parker run that caught Seattle in the all-out blitz that gave Parker clear sailing once he cleared the line, the end-a-round from Randle El to Ward for the kill shot. All Bill Cowher calls, all at the perfect time, and all very very effective against an absolutey bewildered Seahawks defense.

I hope this piece winds up, somehow, in front of Mike Holmgren because I have something to say to him: “Mike, Mr. Holmgren, Coach, you lost the game not because of bad officiating, you lost the game because you are not as good of a Coach as Bill Cowher. He took you to school, so try to learn a few things from him instead of throwing a tantrum and disrespecting one of the greatest coaches in league history. I can only hope that one day someone shows you total disrespect at a time when you should be congratulated for a job well done. You lost. Live with it.”

My congratulations go out to the World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers, but more than that, I want to extend my respect and admiration for a true class act, Coach Bill Cowher, a native of Pittsburgh, which has gotta make this all the more sweeter. Although I don’t play football, or any sport for that matter, you will always be my head coach.

Public Golf Courses - Making The Right Choice

Chances are, if you’re just starting out, you haven’t decided to
apply to a fancy country club yet so you can play their
outstanding course, right? That’s a very good idea, because
there are probably several public golf courses close to you that
are just as terrific and much cheaper too! Do you think Tiger
Woods and Phil Mickelson started out on private courses? I doubt
it! Even though we can’t all have the status of a Woods or
Mickelson, we can make sure that we don’t have an argument with
our wallet every time we want to hit the course for some
practice time on the driving range or to get in a leisurely
round.

Of course, the first thing you want to check at a public golf
course is the course itself. Find out how many holes it has -
some courses only have 9 and, to play a full 18 holes of golf,
you just go around twice. Walk a few holes and take a look at
the course. Check to see whether it appears well maintained. Are
the greens plush and even? Is the rough bearable? Does it look
like they regularly mend divot holes? There’s nothing more
discouraging for a novice golfer than playing a course that ends
up being too tough just because of poor maintenance. While
poorly maintained courses can provide lots of entertainment
value - you know you look funny when you’re swinging away in a
bunker - they don’t provide as much “good” experience for a
novice golfer as a well cared for course will.

That brings up another thing to check, the cost of a round.
You’ll find some big differences in cost from course to course,
and many public golf courses offer reduced rates at certain
times of the day and during the off-season. For example, public
golf courses in Phoenix, Arizona, known as the City of Golf,
sometimes discount their rates by as much as 50 percent during
the hot summer months.

Next, some extras can be really helpful to your game! Most
beginners spend far too much time on the practice putting green
and not nearly enough time on the driving range. Make sure the
course you pick has an adequate driving range. It doesn’t matter
if you can putt like a pro if it takes you six strokes to get
onto the green at a par 3 hole. Along with the driving range and
practice green, you might find a public golf course that has a
chipping green or a practice bunker. These can all be great
features to help you improve particular problem areas in your
game. And that’s what it’s all about.

Finally, check out the clubhouse. No, I don’t mean discover
whether the bartender is handsome or the waitress is cute. Learn
whether the course has a pro shop, and whether a golf pro runs
it. Ask about his or her qualifications - most of us think of
the words “golf pro” and immediately think PGA, but not all golf
pros are registered with the PGA. For that matter, not all golf
pros are particularly well qualified for teaching. Ask if
lessons are offered or if a golf school is associated with the
course. This can be a big selling point if you’re trying to
improve your golf swing and just can’t figure out what’s wrong.
And of course, find out the cost of the lessons.

The secret to finding a good public golf course is to shop
around. Check out several courses in your area and don’t worry
about whether they are listed in some Who’s Who of public
courses. Just do your homework and pick the one that best suits
your own needs. It will make for a much more enjoyable
experience and might even lower your score!

And remember - a bad choice can get you the same results as Hank
Aaron, the world-renowned baseball player who once said, “It
took me 17 years to get 3,000 hits, but I did it in one
afternoon on the golf course!”
